Upgrades

Update the server unit and the Storage Node.

Server unit

git pull
docker compose -f deploy/docker-compose.yml --env-file deploy/.env up --build -d

The Relay applies SQLite migrations automatically on startup. Migrations are embedded in the binary (go:embed) and tracked by golang-migrate, so a roll-forward deploy is safe and repeatable. SQLite lives on a local volume at /var/lib/nodus/relay.db; no separate database service is needed.

Storage Node

Install the new release and restart the service:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TalibMushtaq/nodus/main/scripts/install-node.sh | sh -s -- --version <version>
sudo systemctl restart nodus

Building from source still works for development checkouts:

cd services/storage-node
git pull
cargo build --release
# then restart your systemd unit

The node applies its own SQLite migrations on open. Existing objects and data remain valid across upgrades.

Compatibility

The protocol uses semver versioning: a major bump is breaking, a minor bump is additive. Clients and services check the major version and refuse incompatible peers. Keep components on compatible versions; see Schema versioning.
