Files and folders

Upload, download, organise, and share files across clients.

The Backups page in the web client (the Files tab on mobile) is the file manager. Names are encrypted end-to-end, so the Storage Node stores files by id and size only.

Upload

  • Web: click Upload or drag files onto the page.
  • Mobile: open Files and tap +.

Uploads run as a sequential queue with byte-level progress and automatic retry (exponential backoff). Large files are sharded and encrypted client-side before any bytes leave the device.

Download

  • Web: open a file and choose Download.
  • Mobile: tap a file; it is decrypted to the cache and handed to the OS share sheet.

Downloads verify each shard's BLAKE3 hash and show the transport used (Local P2P or Relay). A folder can be downloaded as a ZIP.

Organise

  • Folders — create, rename, move, and browse with a breadcrumb. Folder names are encrypted and folder keys are sealed in envelopes like files.
  • Move / rename — via the row context menu; renames are sync events.
  • Search and sort — client-side over the local catalogue.
  • Views — list or grid; filter by status.
  • Previews — image thumbnails and previews.

Multi-select

On mobile, long-press to enter multi-select for bulk move and delete.

Sharing

A downloaded or exported file is a normal plaintext file; you share it with your operating system's share sheet. Nodus itself never uploads plaintext to a third party.
