Notifications

Browser push, mobile push, and per-category preferences.

Nodus can notify you about conflicts, offline nodes, and completed backups.

Browser notifications (web)

  • Settings → Notifications or the notifications panel requests permission.
  • With NEXT_PUBLIC_VAPID_PUBLIC_KEY configured, the client registers a PushSubscription with the Relay (POST /devices/web-push).
  • If the VAPID key is unset, the opt-in is hidden.

Categories you can toggle:

  • transfers
  • conflicts
  • node offline
  • backup complete

A test notification is available to confirm delivery.

Mobile push

  • The app registers an Expo push token and an Android channel.
  • Categories (conflicts, deviceOffline, syncComplete) are stored with the token.
  • Tapping a notification opens the Activity tab.
  • Without EXPO_PUBLIC_EAS_PROJECT_ID, push registration is skipped silently.

Requirements

Push delivery requires the Relay to be configured with the relevant secrets: VAPID_PUBLIC_KEY/VAPID_PRIVATE_KEY/VAPID_SUBJECT for web, EXPO_PUSH_ACCESS_TOKEN for mobile. See Configuration.
